Kamloops, BC— The official kick off of the season doesn’t begin until August but that doesn’t mean the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s program isn’t already working.
The WolfPack and head coach John Antulov are set to host an identification camp at Hillside Stadium this weekend (Mar 18-19).
“We are expecting 30-40 players from outside the program to be here,” Antulov says. “We will also have our players involved in one way or the other to compare and evaluate as well.”
The prospects are coming from Alberta, Ontario as well as British Columbia. There is also a chance some American players will also be here vying for a spot on the club which will host the 2017 USport Soccer Nationals in November.
“We will have technical sessions followed by a small sided game on Saturday,” Antulov explains. “We will have full games on Sunday.”
As far as possible roster spots open for the coming year? “No exact numbers but we are just looking for talent and players that want to be at TRU,” the coach adds. “We want to find the best available players.”
Sessions this weekend go 9 am to 2 pm at Hillside Stadium. Admission is free if fans want to check out the workouts.
