Canadian Women’s National Team veteran Melissa Tancredi is headed back to Sweden. On Friday, she signed with KIF Örebro DFF of Sweden’s top women’s league, the Damallsvenskan. Beyond her 2015 World Cup duties, she spent her recent seasons with Chicago Red Stars of NWSL.
This is Tancredi’s second stint in Sweden’s top division. In 2011, she signed with with Piteå IF after a season with the Vancouver Whitecaps of the now defunct W-League.
In a statement on the club’s website, KIF Örebro’s head coach George Papchristou said, “We are very pleased Melissa comes to us this season. She is a player who fits perfectly for what we have sought. She has high quality and great experience that can make a difference.”
