What makes Alphonso Davies that once-in-a-generation playerMLS
By late last year, Davies’ name and tales of his fearless performances had seemingly circulated around the globe. There was news that Davies was being watched by a few European mega-clubs, and Jorge Alvial was actually the second scout to see Davies in person. Liverpool’s Andy O’Brien had seen Davies not long before, and the avalanche was on.

Beyond the Lens – SupportEighty-Six Forever
As we close in on another #CurvaonTour (it’s normally Caps, but I’ll get into that later) adventure into Portland, or as is sometimes referred to as Lower Cascadia, I always struggle with the question, “Why do you guys (Caps fans) have 3 supporters groups?” As we all know, in Portland, it’s just the Timbers Army whereas Curva Collective, RCB and Vancouver Southsiders make up the supporters landscape in Vancouver.

From the Pigeon Loft: Turning a corner AFTN
There is something powerful in the act of facing one another, acknowledging one another. One of my favourite chants is “Come on Vancouver, we’re together, supporting you tonight.” It’s slow and anthemic, sometimes dirgy, but its a lovely tune and the sentiment is exactly right. We are shoulder to shoulder in the Southside and the job of everyone there is to produce a unified noise towards the players. We are together. Supporting you. Making visual and auditory displays that express something.

REVIEW: The Miracle Mile. Stories of the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games BC BookLook
Author Jason Beck is curator of the BC Sports Hall of Fame in BC Place Stadium, Vancouver, and convenor two years ago of an excellent exhibition about the 1954 Games.
