Vancouver Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson has been around the block a few times, and he knows that one week in May – however impressive – doesn’t mean much of anything in the grand scheme of an MLS season.

For Foreign Investors in a Soccer Stadium, U.S. Visas Are the Goal – NY Times
In what may be the first deal of its kind, da Silva, the majority owner of Orlando City of Major League Soccer, is asking investors from Brazil, China and elsewhere to pay $500,000 each for a stake in the stadium he is building near downtown Orlando. In return, the foreign investors receive annual dividends, two season tickets and something even more valuable: a green card that allows them, their spouses and sometimes even their children to live and work in the United States.
Rivalries are central to Major League Soccer’s expansion plans – ESPN FC
Rivalry is key to growing the league specifically because it speaks to passions that exist outside the sport. If MLS can get casual fans interested in soccer because City A really likes to beat City B (and vice-versa), those fans might find reasons to stick around.

MLS must “Cross the Line” and talk about Trump, Zlatan and Georgia – Prost Amerika
As debate surrounds North Carolina’s legislation over what lavatories transgender people may use, most MLS fans continue to demonstrate their support for diversity and tolerance with the regular display of gay rights rainbow flags, or more recently pro refugee banners. MLS silence seems at odds with their well advertised “Don’t Cross the Line” campaign:

THE FABRIC OF BETRAYAL – Emerald City Supporters
On Monday, Seattle Sounders FC announced it was “teaming-up” with its corporate partner Delta Air Lines to “unite Seattle and celebrate Delta’s support of the city through one of soccer’s most storied traditions – a tifo display.” Misuse of grammar aside, let’s make one thing crystal clear. Corporate “tifo” isn’t what tifo is about.
Fan Op-Ed: “I’ve been a Sounders ST holder for 10 years. Why there won’t be an 11th” – Prost Amerika
I am continuing to be disappointed by the actions of the Front Office as the season rolls onward. Gaffe after gaffe, it seems to me that nobody there has any concern whatsoever for the fanbase. Let me illustrate my points.
