Whitecaps FC defender David Edgar undergoes successful knee surgery – Whitecaps FC
Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Wednesday that defender David Edgar underwent successful surgery last night to repair the posterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments (PCL and MCL), as well as the meniscus in his right knee.

Edgar will be out until the fall after successful surgery on his right knee, the club revealed Wednesday. The 29-year-old suffered a torn posterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament, and meniscus while on a golf trip in Scottsdale, Ariz., last month. He was the victim of a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident.

BC Soccer Assoc. Delivery of Coach Mandate – BCSA
IMPORTANT: If you are coaching in the ages U6-U12 you are required to complete the age appropriate course(s) even if you have a higher level of certification (ie. Soccer for Life, B pretest, C License, B License or A License). In order to enable our membership to deliver on the coaching mandate, BC Soccer Assoc. will be scheduling Learning Facilitator training sessions to assist organizations to have qualified individuals to deliver in-club coach certification courses to their coaches.

Westhills Stadium & Goudy Park in Langford hosted the 2016 BC Soccer Adult Provincial Cup Finals. It was a thrilling weekend of soccer on Vancouver Island that saw seven champions crowned. Richmond FC & Surrey Pegasus qualified for the National Championships this Fall in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Both Coquitlam Metro-Ford Masters & Classics sides qualified for the Western Canadian Masters Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In all, it was a clean sweep for teams from the VMSL & MWSL. Monique Lamoureux & Bill Currie from BC Soccer Web were on location that weekend, capturing the all the action.

Calgary Foothills 2016 Year in Review – Northern Starting XI
For those who followed Canadian PDL soccer, you may have noticed a new face making waves late into the PDL season. Calgary Foothills, a local youth club that developed the likes of Kevin McKenna, Sam Adekugbe and Charlie Trafford parlayed a successful sophomore season and advanced all the way to the 2016 PDL Championship game, losing 3-2 on a controversial penalty call to the Michigan Bucks late in the game. It was a season with many positive developments on and off the pitch, one which could hopefully help establish the club in the city’s sports scene for years to come.

If certain things fall into place, the Cosmos could return for the 2017 North American Soccer League Soccer season. Rocco B. Commisso, the CEO of Mediacom Communications Corp. who has strong ties to the Columbia University soccer program, has been negotiating to purchase the Cosmos.
