The Portland Timbers opened the 2016 regular season with a 2-1 victory over Columbus Crew SC before a sold-out crowd of 21,144 fans at Providence Park on Sunday afternoon. Forward Fanendo Adi and midfielder Diego Valeri, who combined for nine of the team’s 20 shots, both found the back of the net for Portland, propelling the Timbers to their third straight win over Crew SC, including the team’s MLS Cup victory in 2015.

FC Dallas opened up their 2016 MLS season with a 2-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union at Toyota Park in Frisco on Sunday. While the score was relatively close, the game was not, as FCD showed why they are a top contender in the west.

Canada w17 secures spot in CONCACAF semis – CSA
Canada has secured a spot in the semi finals at the 2016 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship. The undefeated Canadian side won 7:0 over the hosts Grenada on the second match day at Grenada Athletic Stadium in St. George’s, GRN. Four different players scored for Canada in the win, led by a hat trick by striker Teni Akindoju.

Ottawa Fury FC closed out their week-long camp in Casa Grande, Arizona with a convincing 4-0 win over RSL Academy on Sunday afternoon.
