VISL Week 8 Results & Standings

The rain tried to throw a damper on the weekend, but it just created a little extra drama, as all games were played, and the results did not disappoint.

Here is how the top flight division 1 games played out.

 

-Westcastle took down defending Jackson Cup Champion Gorge FC in the weekend opener at Hampton.
Jonathan Walter, possible team MVP, had the first goal and Kalen Park added a goal via PK.
Simon Norgrove adding another shutout to this years totals.

-Keeping the shutout theme going, division leader Mid Isle came into Oak Bay and defeated the south Island boys 3-0.
Scoring details were not available at this time, but earning the shutout was callup Keeper Sachdev Grewal.
Big 3 points for the Mid Island boys as they stay atop the division.

-Our Game Of The Week had Nanaimo United host Cowichan.
United defeated the previously undefeated Cowichan by score of 3-2.
Nanaimo goals were by Daniel Cato, Taylor Arbour, and Division 2 call up player Renan Rebelatto scored in the 89′ to secure the win.
Cowichan had both goals scored by Russell Lederer.
Game MVP was midfielder Matt Mehrassa of Nanaimo United.

-Vic West secured an important 3 points as they defeated the north Island boys out of Comox.
A shutout by permitted player Nils Webber.
Vic West goals were scored by Matthias Raps, Dylan Kirk, and Riley O’Neil added a pair.

-The final game of the weekend was an upset in most peoples books.
Fernwood defeated Lakehill 1-0 to earn their first win of the year.
Loan goal for Fernwood was scored by Josh Cuthbert while Jesse Rice earned the shutout.

An exciting weekend which had the shutout theme happening for the most part.
We look forward to the next week already, but first we will enjoy the Pacific FC open trials and cheer on some VISL players.
