Here is how week 5 wrapped up, and what an absolute stunner of a weekend. We’ll take this weather for sure.
-The weekend got off with a bang as Bays United was defeated by the young kids from Westcastle.
Goals scored by Spencer Shrader, Sean Young, and permitted player Goteh Ntignee.
Shutting out the Bays was Keeper Simon Norgrove.
-After charging out to an early lead, Lakehill was able to coast to a 5-2 win over Comox.
Lakehill goals by Alexander Chegne, Nicholas Pineda Graham, Tarnvir Bhandal, and Wesley Barrett with 2.
Comox answered with late goals by Nick Marinus and Kyle Bait.
-Mid Isle and Cowichan battled to a 1-1 draw. Dan Citra had the goal for Mid Isle, and the Mid Isle squad also with an Own Goal earlier in the game.
-Gorge and Vic West were in an exciting game, but it finished as a 0-0 draw. Iain Walker had the shutout for Gorge while Nolan Wirth had the shutout for Vic West.
-The final game of the weekend had division leaders Nanaimo defeat Fernwood 2-0.
Geoff Hackett added to his remarkable start to the year by shutting out the Fernwood boys
Standings look like this after 5 weeks:
Nanaimo has kept their impressive start and are still undefeated – looking good on the top.
Mid Isle and Lakehill are on their heals, and are having good starts to the year.
The surprise of the division might be Cowichan who while still undefeated, are in 4th place with a game in hand.
At the other end of the spectrum, Fernwood looking for their first win, while the Comox squad is still looking for their first point of the year.
Pretty sure next week will bring more interesting story lines.
