The top flight; Division 1, has completed opening weekend with all 5 games being played – with no snow to be found.
The theme of the week seemed to be hat tricks as 3 separate players recorded one in their respective games.
A couple players that were involved in last year’s scoring race got right back into it scoring 3 (Jon Shah) and 4 (Patrick Nelson) goals each, adding in a rookie player that decided to get in on the act as well with 3. (Matteo Ventura)
Some might say they were surprised to see as many goals as they did; it was obvious that the newcomers to the division did not have it easy by any means.
Here is how it all shaped up starting with our 1550’s Game Of The Week:

Lakehill came out very strong and playing well. They controlled the game for the first 15, looked dangerous, and were creating opportunity. After narrowly missing a couple opportunities, Gorge makes Lakehill pay by scoring just before the 20’ mark. This seemed to give Gorge a bit of a boost and play leveled out some. As the half was coming to completion, Lakehill was awarded a PK after an extended arm batted down the ball. It was all even at 1-1 going into halftime.
After the restart, Gorge caught Lakehill flat footed and it did not take them long to go ahead as Jon Shah got his second of the night.Then the nail in the coffin came as Drew Brittain put Gorge up 3-1 with just over 10 minutes left in the game. It was all Gorge at this poing, but not being done yet, Jon Shah got his third goal at 82’.
Final Score 4-1 with Jon Shah being named the Man of the Match.
