VISL Upcoming Matches

The upcoming weekend is full of Semi Finals for respective Cups within the VISL.

There will be some great games, some would even consider the likes of a FINAL !

Our most prestigious Cup (since 1915)– the Sir John Jackson which is now competed by the top 2 divisions has:

Nanaimo United Div 1 hosting VI Wave Div 1 – Saturday March 18, Merle Logan Turf at 7 PM.

& our Game Of The Week –

Gorge FC Div 1 hosting Cowichan LMG Div 1 – Friday March 17, Hampton Park at 7:15 PM.

Then there is our Tony Grover Cup for Masters players aged 35 years+, it has:

Vic West hosting Castaways Juniors – Saturday March 18, Finlayson Turf at 6 PM.

& to what some may consider our 2nd Game Of The Week –

Saanich Fusion Old School hosting Cowichan 49ers – Saturday March 18, Tyndall Turf at 6 PM.

Another historical competition (since 1983) – the George Pearkes Challenge Cup contested by Divisions 3 & 4:

Gorge United Div 3B are hosting Castaways FC Div 3A – Saturday March 18, Hampton Park at 5 PM.

& 2 top Clubs facing off –

Mid-Isle Mariners of Div 3B hosting Fernwood Town 3B – Sunday March 19, Ladysmith Turf at 6 PM.

Our Final competition that has had the semi’s completed already is the George Smith U21 Cup.

It features players from our Under 21 Graduate Division.

The 2 teams advancing are Juan de Fuca United & Mid-Isle Mariners.

They will face eachother on Cup Finals weekend which takes place April 1 & 2 at Royal Athletic Park.

After 7 months of competition, the season starts wrapping up this weekend with only a select few making it to the Finals.

The 3 Cups that have Semi Finals happening this weekend all have an extra something on the line.

All 6 teams that win this weekend will earn a spot in the BC Provincial Cup Tournament.

Our community of 2000 local men playing soccer appreciate your support.
