An exciting weekend across all divisions on the VISL this past weekend.
We are fortunate as we are probably the only Men’s League in the Province to get the majority of our scheduled games in.
The bulk of the weekend’s games were Cup related.
Here is what happened in our featured Sir John Jackson Cup ¼ Finals.
Friday night started with Cowichan LMG Div 1 blasting Prospect Lake Div 2 by score of 6-0.
Last year’s Div 1 MVP; Patrick Nelson, led the way with 4 goals.
Saturday night had 2 very close games.
Gorge FC Div 1 travelled to Campbell River Div 1 and the game needed Penalty Shots to determine a winner
The winning shot was from Gorge’s Dominic Colantonio. Gorge FC wins 1-0.
In Nanaimo Saturday, Lakehill Maple Glass Div 1 was taking on Nanaimo United.
This game needed 2 halves of Extra time to determine a winner.
Nanaimo scored with 2 minutes remaining in extra time. They win 2-1.
In the last game on Sunday, Cowichan United Div 2 came down Island and faced VI Wave of Div 1.
A close game right till the end, but VI Wave scored at the 80 minute mark then added insurance just before the final whistle.
The Wave defeat Cowichan United 2-0.
This was our Game Of The Week. The game MVP was Will Adams of VI Wave.
The lone League game that was scheduled as a makeup was cancelled because of snow on Sunday am in Cowichan.
We resume League games next week, then semifinals the following week.
