-The Friday night Gorge vs Prospect Lake affair was the early Cup thriller as it needed sudden death penalty shots for the Division 1 team to defeat Prospect Lake Division 2.
-Another surprising game has Comox upset Mid Isle in a battle of Division 1 teams. Comox was losing 4-1, then battled back to win.
-There was a couple blowouts in favour of Division 1 teams Nanaimo Utd, and Bays Utd.
-There was a good battle at Westhills on Saturday and the Vic West team from Division 1 avoided an upset as they held on to defeat Division 2 side Highlanders.
-The weekend did finish off with an upset of sorts as Nanaimo Division 2 defeated Fernwood Division 1 by score of 4-3.
There will be more Jackson Cup 1st round games to complete the weekend upcoming, so those will be scheduling in the next 24 hours.
Also – a rare late Sunday Night special as Westcastle hosted Cowichan at Westhills in Division 1 League play as both teams had open weekends, but needed to get their first of 2 makeup games in.
Westcastle and Cowichan tied with a score of 1-1.
They will also face eachother this Weds Feb 27, and it will more than likely decide the League Championship. (Garrison Cup Champion)
Hopefully the white stuff stays away as we need to fully catch up in the next week or 2.
Thanks for supporting local soccer.
