VISL Jackson Cup Quarterfinal Preview

And then there was 8 !
The Jackson Cup will be the main focus this weekend for Island soccer supremacy.
When the weekend is done, 4 teams will have their aspirations squashed, and will not be able to hoist the Sir John Jackson Cup.
4 other teams will live to see another week; the semi finals in 2 weeks time.

Here are the 4 games that will be taking place: all on Saturday & Sunday.

Feb 29 18:00 Lakehill FC (D1)    Comox Valley United (D2)    Braefoot Park
Feb 29 18:00 Vic West FC (D1)    Gorge United FC (D2)    Finlayson Turf
Feb 29 20:15 Westcastle United (D1)    Nanaimo United FC (D1)    Westhills Stadium
Mar 1 20:00 Prospect Lake Lakers (D2)    Victoria Highlanders FC (D2)    Glanford Park

-While Lakehill Division 1 are heavily favored, Comox Division 2 will come south island to Braefoot park in Saanich and battle hard.
This will be the battle of divisional champions, and both teams will need to be ready.

-Vic West Division 1 will have a test in going up against a surging Division 2 Gorge Utd.
This will be a pretty evenly matched up game as both teams have had interesting years to say the least.

-In what will be the most interesting match of the weekend, a reborn Nanaimo club visits Westhills Stadium to try and topple the quick and skilled Westcastle squad.
It will take a special effort by the mid-islanders to take down the virtually invincible academy squad that narrowly missed winning the Division 1 championship.

-Wrapping things up on Sunday will be the battle of David vs Goliath as near basement dwelling Prospect Lake look to get past the 2nd place team in Division 2 – the Victoria Highlanders.
The Highlanders narrowly got into this weekends draw, but know that they will be facing a short staffed PL team.

Here is the entire Jackson Cup draw in case you need a refresher:

Save the date – Saturday March 21 will be the Finals at Westhills this year.
Until then, see you at the park.
