VISL – Jackson Cup: Play-in Round & Upcoming 1st round

Results from this past weekend’s play in round.

Overall, things went according to odds makers, but there is no doubt that the game that had extra focus was the game between Saanich Fusion Div 1 & Vantreights Div 2.

As it was Vantreights home game, the game was played at a field they arraigned – Glasgow. Not the prettiest of fields, especially when wet.  The field was declared open by the City and officials agreed it was ok to play on.

Saanich Fusion, being used to their home turf, clearly struggled to be as dominant as usual.  It took 2 x 15 extra time halves and Saanich Fusion was able to score in the 115^th minute to salvage the win. They were worthy of the win, was just a bit more difficult than some would have expected. Final score of 2-1 for Saanich Fusion.

Castaways Div 2 hosted Comox Div 1.

Comox won 5-0 with goals from Gabby Nason, Tyler Laitinen, Phil Ludwig, & Luke Phye x 2.

Gorge defeated Vic West 6-1 with goals from Colin MacDonald, James Nagra, Kevin Jones x 2, & Cam Stokes x 2.
