It is a crazy time of year – not just on the Island with the arrival of Pacific FC, but also across the Province as amateur teams enter the final stages of BC Soccer’s Provincial Cup.
There is no doubt that all the major Leagues in the Province can be stepping stones to getting on the Pacific FC roster.
That is a reality now.
This weekend will feature all the amateur teams that have progressed through their individual Cup tournaments.
What does that mean for VISL and all Island teams …….we have opportunities to get to the Finals which are slated to be on the May 11/12 weekend at Merle Logan turf fields in Nanaimo.
Progression wise, this has probably been our best year in many – since 2008 when the Island teams won all 3 provincial Cups at the time.
While we have some teams entering quarter finals, and semi finals this weekend – it sure did not start out well.
Overall, the Island suffered many losses early, but overall have persevered, and some are in position to play in the final if they are successful this weekend.
Here is what we have in store for the Men’s component:
Cowichan FC Division 1 of VISL competing in the Provincial Open A Cup. They will face CCB LFC United of VMSL. (Vancouver Metro Soccer League)

This is a great opportunity to support grass roots football. Let’s see how far these teams can do.
Best of luck, hope to see you at Westhills Stadium Wednesday Night for the Pacific FC match vs Valour FC, then at your local park this weekend.
It is always a treat to play for, and eventually hoist a provincial Cup – who will get the opportunity this year?
