The top flight of Island soccer had all its’ games played over the weekend – we are thankful for turf!

Match week 6 had a clear Saturday so many could enjoy the final Pacific FC game of the year, and like that game, the Division 1 results did not disappoint.

At a glance, here is what took place:

-Friday night saw Gorge score a very late goal (in the last minute) to sneak out a 1-0 win over Vic West.

-Friday also saw Cowichan blank Nanaimo by score of 2-0.

-The Game Of The Week was also on Friday night, and it was a shocker as Westcastle trounced Lakehill by score of 5-1.
This was a big game that saw Westcastle jump up the standings, and also putting a skid of Lakehill’s impressive run of late.
The loan goal scorer for Lakehill was Paulo Dait.
The scoring for Westcastle was handled by Goteh Ntignee, Boland Lekeaka, and Keenen Colley with 3.
Keenen Colley was also selected the 1550’s Man of the Match.

-Another shock on the weekend saw Bays Utd and Juan de Fuca draw at 0-0.
With both teams at opposite ends of the table, this was not expected by any means.
Earning the shutout for JDF was Blake Ridley, and for Bays Utd it was Ethan May.

-The last game of the weekend featured a couple teams at the bottom, the result changed the outlook of the division.
Powell River defeated Mid Isle by the score of 3-0.

Posting the shutout for Powell River was Matt Liknes.

Here is what the standings look like after all the information was entered into the website.
A couple teams march up the standings to tighten things up some, and the bottom takes a big turn.

There is a new man on the leader board as well as the goal scoring race has a little altering done to it:
Week 6 was an interesting one – just another reason why you play the games out – you just never know what can happen on any given Friday !!
