KYSA U13s Raise Funds for Fort McMurray Fire Residents

KAMLOOPS, BC – The Kamloops Youth Soccer Association’s U13 Girls House “Wildfire” have chosen to fund raise toward the relief effort for the residents of Ft. McMurray during this weekend’s Mike Bartram Memorial Youth Soccer Tournament at McArthur Island.

The team will be stationed in front of the KYSA office located next to Field #2 on the Island from 9:00am to 7:00pm, Saturday (May 7) and Sunday (May 8). They will be taking donations to support the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund that has been created to support those affected by the severe wildfires that have devastated the city. The team will also be circulating around the Island to collect donations in between their games during the tournament.

The idea is the brainchild of team member Khaiya McFayden-Godin, who said to her dad, Eric, that they should be doing something to help and raising much-needed money would be a worthwhile endeavor.

Some 50 boys and girls teams in the U13 to U18 age groups are taking part in the Bartram Tournament, named after one of the KYSA’s major contributors who died in the year 2000 of cancer.
