KAMLOOPS, BC –– The Kamloops Youth Soccer Association (KYSA) held a regularly scheduled board of directors meeting at the KYSA office on McArthur Island on December 18.
The meeting is the first to take place following the organization’s Annual General Meeting which was held November 23rd. It is at this meeting that the board selects its President and Vice-President for the coming year and assigns various responsibilities to its directors.
Chosen to preside over the association (by the seven-person board of directors) is Candace Dodson-Willis. She will be entering her fifth year on the board and her second year as President. Re-elected as Vice-President was Rod Gurnsey.
Newly elected director Dennis Piva was chosen to act as Treasurer. Piva is a chartered accountant. Chris Balison, a lawyer, was assigned the role of updating the organization’s Constitution. Both Piva and Balison were elected to the board––both for two-year terms––at the association’s recent AGM.
Board members Tony Cuzzetto, Brock Freathy and Colin Guise were also assigned various operational responsibilities.
The KYSA has a paid staff consisting of full-time employees Keith Liddiard (Executive Director), Ciaran McMahon (Technical Director) and Mark Bell (Senior Staff Coach) and part-time employees Clive Lovett (Program Coordinator), Carolyn Birch (Office Administrator) and Donna Marshall (Office Assistant). Justine Rinaldi is the organization’s contracted Bookkeeper.
The KYSA also bids adieu to former President Graham Cope, who’s two-year term was up at the AGM. Cope served on the youth organization’s board for six consecutive two-year terms, and as the President for ten consecutive years. The membership presented Cope with a framed montage of photographs taken over the course of his time with the association. An avid skier and director with the Sun Peaks Alpine Ski Club, the Financial Planner with the Royal Bank plans on hitting the slopes a bit more often now that he’s going to have a little more free time.
