Comox Valley United Soccer Club welcomes Matt Thomas as NEW Technical Director

Comox Valley United Soccer Club is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Matt Thomas to the position of Technical Director for the club. Matt comes to our club with an extensive background which includes working at a club level in Alberta and Ontario and has worked on behalf of Provincial Soccer Associations in both Alberta and British Columbia. Matt has extensive coaching certifications from both Canada and the United States along with a UEFA “A” and “B” licences from Great Britain. Matt is designated as a Canadian Soccer Association Master Learner Facilitator, a designation that will help further the capabilities of our local coaching cadre.

Matt brings with him a passion for soccer that began as a youth in England and developed into a professional opportunity to play in England with Aston Villa, West Bromwich and Sheffield. Since the end of this professional career Matt has eagerly pursued a career in coaching and is delighted to become part of the Comox Valley United family.

Current Club President, Paul West notes “while Matt has only been here for a few weeks he has already made his presence known throughout the soccer community. His upbeat, positive, engaging personality is quickly winning over our club membership. We look forward to seeing Matt continue to build on the past success of Comox Valley United and we are anxious to help him grow our club.
