Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC clinched first place in the Eastern Conference thanks to a 90th minute winner from Mark Forrest on a late set-piece against Birmingham Legion FC. The Hounds, who needed a win against Birmingham to win the Eastern Conference, will face the lowest-advancing seed in the Championship Playoffs next Saturday, while Legion FC will travel to face North Carolina FC in the Play-In Round on Wednesday night.
USL Gameday Report: October 19, Week 33 – USL
The final Saturday of the regular season kicked off with the Charleston Battery punching its ticket to the postseason with a 5-1 win over Bethlehem Steel FC in the club’s final game at MUSC Health Stadium. Later, Real Monarchs SLC defeated Sacramento Republic FC, 3-0, at Zions Bank Stadium to guarantee a fourth place finish in the Western Conference and at least one home playoff game, while Republic FC will play again Wednesday night in the Play-In Round of the Championship Playoffs. Reno 1868 FC then secured second place in the West with a dominant 3-0 win over Tulsa Roughnecks FC thanks to a brace from forward Corey Hertzog.
