Westhills Stadium & Goudy Park in Langford hosted the 2016 BC Soccer Adult Provincial Cup Finals. It was a thrilling weekend of soccer on Vancouver Island that saw seven champions crowned. Richmond FC & Surrey Pegasus qualified for the National Championships this Fall in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Both Coquitlam Metro-Ford Masters & Classics sides qualified for the Western Canadian Masters Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In all, it was a clean sweep for teams from the VMSL & MWSL. Monique Lamoureux & Bill Currie from BC Soccer Web were on location that weekend, capturing the all the action.

Celtic battled their way to the SWPL Cup final after a 2-1 victory over in-form Spartans. The Glasgow side went down early on to a Colette Cavanagh strike, but Kirsty Howat restored parity with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. The second period was dominated by Celtic and they eventually made it tell when Suzanne Mulvey grabbed the winner and booked her side’s place in the final.

Hibernian can reclaim the SWPL Cup after seeing off SWPL 1 Champions Glasgow City in dramatic fashion. Similarly to their 2016 victory over City, it was a last minute goal that sealed the deal but they required extra time on this occasion. Abbie Harrison was the goalscorer, turning in a loose shot to give her side victory only two minutes after being denied a penalty as she was adjudged to have dived inside the box.
