MLS is back! Brush up on 2016’s big storylines thus farMLS
The league’s summer break will officially end this weekend, when all 20 teams return to action after taking the last two-plus weeks off thanks to Copa America Centenario.

Their words: Raw emotion from Christian Dean on recent injury struggles Whitecaps FC
“Why? Not now. Please God, not now!” The only words flooding through my head were ones of denial, fear, pain, and anger. I’ll admit, anger was the most prevalent. In four days, I would possibly be playing in what I believed was the biggest game of my career – of my life.  It was what I had been training my ass off for.

Bolaños sets up game-winner with lovely chip pass as Costa Rica upset Colombia 3-2 in Copa finaleWhitecaps FC
It was a big win for Costa Rica – their first against Colombia since 1963 as well as their first in a Copa América – but it wasn’t enough to get them out of the group stage. Costa Rica finished third in Group A behind first-place U.S. and second-place Colombia with a 1W-1L-1D record.

An Open Letter from Orlando City SC to our City Beautiful Orlando City SC

We must also thank the police, the first responders and our partners at Orlando Health, who did so much to save lives.

Portland Timbers once again have particularly difficult path in U.S. Open Cup Oregonian
The Portland Timbers can’t seem to catch a break in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. For the second year in a row, the Timbers are one of just two MLS teams scheduled to face an MLS opponent rather than a lower division club when they enter the tournament in the fourth round Tuesday.

Cameron MacDonald looking to cause upset – and receive handshake – against Seattle SoundersThe Telegraph
On Wednesday evening, MacDonald will be hoping for a handshake from the coaching staff – but more importantly victory – when the lowly Kitsap Pumas take on the mighty Seattle Sounders in the fourth round of the US Open Cup.

Dear Seattle: by Stefan Frei Players Tribune
In December 2013 I was traded to this amazing club. In three years in a Sounders uniform, I’ve learned that our fans are such an important part of how we play soccer in Seattle. I think it’s time to recognize that.
