From 1928 to 1936, the Westminster Royals were the dominant team of Canadian soccer, winning four Dominion of Canada Football Championships, five Connaught Series provincial playdowns, and four BC Province Cup titles. Tensions were high, as were expectations in this clash of the titans in the Great Lakes division of the USLPDL. The two leading teams of the division; KW United and the Michigan Bucks, had not met on the pitch since the beginning of the season in Michigan, when the Bucks defeated KW United 2-0. A lot has changed since that early season game; KW has added to their roster significantly and has found their chemistry, and the Bucks have continued to build a solid winning team.
Four soccer fields destroyed in act of vandalism – Kingston Whig-Standard
Kingston Police have charged a youth after four soccer fields were destroyed at John Machin Soccer Park on Saturday night. Residents in a Kingston East neighbourhood woke up Sunday to find four of the nine natural turf fields at the park had been driven on by a pickup truck. Tire tracks were sunk deep into the fields after the vehicle had done “doughnuts” in the soft, damp grass.
