40th ANNIVERSARY KYSA SLURPEE CUP – MAY 20/21/22, 2017

KAMLOOPS, BC – The 40th Anniversary edition of the Kamloops Youth Soccer Association’s flagship tournament––the Slurpee Cup––will see 169 teams taking part in the longest running youth soccer tournament in the interior of the province.

The tournament runs May 19-21, 2018.

Sponsored by 7-Eleven, the Slurpee Cup is open to boys and girls select/development teams in the U11 to U18 age groups.

Matches begin Saturday, May 19th at 9:00am and continue through the day with the last games kicking off at 6:00pm. Similarly on Sunday, May 20th, games start at 9:00am and run through the early evening. Games on the Victoria Day Monday begin at 9:00am and run through to approximately 3:00pm. Matches will be played on fields throughout the city, with the majority of games scheduled at McArthur Island.

Teams from throughout British Columbia have entered this year’s tournament, as well as, numerous teams from Alberta. Edmonton and Calgary-based clubs have been big supporters of the Slurpee Cup for many years.

The KYSA has 26 Teams competing in the tournament this year.

Each team will play four, 60-minute games during the 3-day event.

“We have many teams return to play in the Slurpee Cup year after year because it’s a well run tournament and the quality of the facilities in Kamloops are second to none,” says KYSA President, Candace Dodson-Willis. “We must thank the staff in the Parks, Recreation and Culture department for the remarkable job they do to ensure our visitors and our own teams get to play on top quality playing fields and for making the facilities look great for the event. They are truly supportive of the “Tournament Capital” concept and they’re a great partner to the KYSA.”

The Slurpee Cup is expected to bring over 3,000 players and team officials to Kamloops and hundreds of parents, grandparents and siblings.
